The BARCAROLATA is a magnificent event that takes place on the last Sunday of July in the Italian Riviera, a few steps from Portofino and Cinque Terre National Park, in the wonderful seaside village of Sestri Levante and consists of a parade on the sea where the participants compete on board own boats decorated with papier-mâché, multicolored lights and carnival costumes.

The event takes place in the splendid setting of the Silent Bay in Sestri Levante and is still organized by the Municipality of Sestri Levante and by the Naval League.

At the end of the event there will be a great fireworks display.

It is a historic summer event in Sestri Levante and Liguria with musical events, great guests and thousands of people who flock to enjoy a wonderful and one-of-a-kind show.

Groups of young people work all year round to make the decorations for their boats, goiters and lances, and on the day of the event, starting in the morning, they concentrate on assembling the decorations that will embellish and make their boat unique and original.

A prestigious jury will judge the boats that will start parading from 21.30.
