Barcarolata

Every year, during the last week end of the month of July, the beautiful frame of the Bay of Portobello of Sestri Levante, becomes stage under the stars of the suggestive BARCAROLATA.

The event, organized by the Commune of Sestri Levante and by the Naval League, it’s a real fashion show on the sea: tourists and locals compete into decorate ships with papier-mâché, multicolored lights and carnival costumes. At the end, a huge fireworks display multiplies the charm of the sea at night.

The event was conceived by cav. Giovanni Magnelli of the Company Living in the Sixties.

An "classic" appointment in the summer on the Riviera Ligu re: between music and institutional guests and not, thousands of people gather on the beach to watch the unique spectacle, enjoying a natural setting that leaves you breathless, highlighted by fireworks’ artifice.

A prestigious jury will judge the boat, that parade starting at 21.30, to reward the most beautiful and original.

Every year Sestri Levante is waiting to offer you the charm of a timeless event, which revives the lights and colors the sea harvest, romantic, tied to the ancient rituals of fishing and of the past pace of Portobello Bay.
